The best things in life come in threes, like friends, dreams, and memories
Mencius, Confucian philosopher
Is there room in my blogging life for a new challenge? Possibly not, but when I came across Thursday Trios I was intrigued and decided to see what I could find in my photo archives.
The idea is to share photos which show sets of three, as simple as that. My plan is to post from time to time, not necessarily weekly, and to find a theme among my selections.
People in threes
Today it is all about people. Finding them in groups of three isnβt always as easy as you might think. Couples are common of course, as are larger groups, but threes less so. Or so it seems from my archives! Nevertheless, here are some I found and liked, for my first ever set of Thursday Trios. A few I have shared before but hopefully most are new to you.
Musicians at Nizwa Fort, Oman
Evening in Phnom Penh, three monks relaxing by the Mekong
On the steps of a church in Kerala
Craft-sellers taking a break in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Relaxing in Tarrafal, Santiago, Cape Verde
At Assomada market on Santiago Island, Cape Verde
Children in Binh Tay Market, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)
A family in Takayama, Japan
Near the Central Market in Riga, Latvia
Dancers at a festival in Tallinn, Estonia

Wonderful. I also thought this was an interesting challenge!

Thank you!

Skilled street photography Sarah! The concentration on the Japanese family’s faces and the colour of the Cambodian and Indian girls costumes is bewitching. I looked at those for some time. You need to submit to a travel magazine!

Thank you so much Amanda π Not sure I’m quite up to those standards technically tbh but I really appreciate the compliment!

Wow, you have some wonderful trios here Sarah! I love the picture of the musicians in Oman and those dancers are also so pretty … and I love the quote π.
Sarah Wilkie
Thank you π Those musicians were so willing to pose for me, I have several shots of them – but the others are all of individuals, not three together!
Christie
Three is a magic number! Great photography, I bet you have amazing memoriesπ

Thank you Christie – I do indeed π

I like the one of the women on the steps, Sarah! So colorful.
Sarah Wilkie
Thanks, I’m fond of that one Siobhan – just a lucky capture as they walked up the steps while I was photographing the church itself and one looked back over her shoulder at the right moment!
Marie
Wow – great photos as always Sarah – I particularly love the first one.
Sarah Wilkie
Thank you Marie π

I find it addictive going back through old photos too, though these days I’m tempted to delete a lot. I love the kids, engrossed in the video game, and the smiles of the dancers, Sarah. Lots of golden memories.
Sarah Wilkie
I only wish I had the discipline to delete more! Glad you liked these Jo, and thank you π

Love the quote. The photos are so vibrant. When my son lived at home, my husband, son, and I considered ourselves βthe threeβ β musketeers, stooges, warriorsβ¦
As for challenges, Sarah, you appear to be inspired be each one you accept.
Sarah Wilkie
Thanks Rose π If I don’t find a challenge inspiring I don’t take it on! Life’s too short π
Oh, the Places We See

I started to try to think of threes, and the ones that came to mind immediately were my family. I photo of my third daughter as a baby with her sisters. My mother’s photo of me and my husband with a baby in a christening dress. And my oldest daughter and her husband with her youngest son. And a photo of my parents on bikes with me in the bike basket. Although I didn’t actually go and look (I just thought about it-if I were doing the challenge what would I have), and of course I didn’t take most of them. They wouldn’t have been such great photos – nothing like the set of your gorgeous photos.

I’m curious – is this Rosalie posting from a different email address? Or someone new to my blog? Either way, it’s interesting to hear what you might find to share in a similar challenge, so thanks for stopping by π

How LONG did it take you to find threesomes?!! I am amazed and delighted that you had the patience to go through goodness only knows how many photos to find these treasures. I love the colors and composition in the Riga shot especially.
Sarah Wilkie
Thank you Annie – I confess it took a while but I was sorting out photos for future challenges at the same time, so it was time well spent π Besides, I love how these searches take me back along memory lane, recalling all these past trips!
