I never tire of wandering the streets of Paris; there is always so much to see and to photograph. From elegant buildings to quirky details and of course plenty of street art.
A couple of weeks ago I showed you a street artist at work there and shared some examples of street art Iβd liked on our most recent visit. But there was too much really to include in a single post. So this week Iβm back with more.
As always Iβm sharing this for the Photographing Public Art challenge. But as Marshaβs travelling this week sheβs done me the honour of asking me to host the challenge on her behalf. For anyone who hasnβt yet come across this challenge (where have you been?!), hereβs an outline:
Itβs easy to play along with #PPAC
- There is no weekly theme even though Marshaβs post (and my own) usually has one. Photograph the public art that is available to you.
- The art should be freely visible from a public street or inside a publicly accessed building like a library. If you pay, itβs not public.
- Photographers should have free access of use for their photos with no copyright restrictions by the artists.
- The challenge starts every Friday at 9:00 a.m. Phoenix Time and it ends on Thursday at noon.
- Write a post on your blog, publish it, and include a link back to Marshaβs weekly post (or this week only, to mine), preferably in a comment; sometimes pingbacks are missed.
- Take time to visit other PPAC participants throughout the week. Try to visit at least two or three other participants in the community and please leave them a comment.
- Have fun! Art is to be enjoyed!
You can read more about the challenge on Marshaβs blog but please note, that isnβt the right place to link to. Please comment and link here. I’m going away soon myself but if I don’t pick up on your link please be assured that Marsha will.
So here are my remaining shots from this yearβs Paris street art haul. I have a feeling there could be more next year!
Now itβs your turn
We hope you are inspired to find your own public art as you travel around with your camera this week, or instead to rummage through your archives. Feel free to double dip and support your own favourite challenges along with PPAC.
Thank you
Finally, thank you to everyone who contributed last week. Don’t worry, I’m not going to thank myself as I took a week off from this challenge!

Great murals Sarah. My favorite is the black and white flowered face.
Sarah Wilkie
Thank you Anne π That one’s been popular with a lot of people!

Loved the detail in the one near Place Saint Suplice, Sarah! Also liked the squirrel and cat mural in a previous post. π

Thank you Siobhan – I always like to compare favourites π My own in this batch are the first two – both part of a huge B&W mural!

I especially like how quirky many of these street arts. The skeleton, the heads, the pixelated human, and the acrobatic yellow human have to be my picks. They are small, but cool. Kudos to you for managing to find them. If I ever get to visit Paris, I now know that I need to keep my eye out for these great little delights.
Sarah Wilkie
Thanks – yes, I like those little finds too. Searching for them makes a walk through Parisian streets even more interesting!

Wow, you have the ability to find street art that’s really fascinating! I especially like the one of the woman’s face near the Place Saint Sulpice.
Sarah Wilkie
Thanks – I think once you start looking for street art you see it more and more!
philosophy through photography
Love the naked back view of the person on a house (artistic indeed!).
Great captures especially the click (Near the place Saint Sulpice) and also the faces(on the Rue Clement)
Sarah Wilkie
Thank you – I always appreciate getting feedback on people’s favourite shots π

Appreciate your hosting this week’s PPAC, Sarah!
And for taking us through Parisian streets for these unique views – it really is amazing what one finds wandering around the little streets.
Sarah Wilkie
Glad you enjoyed the tour Ju-lyn π I love seeking out street art and it was a pleasure to play host for a week!

Compliments on your Paris street art. I did see the one on Rue Princesse. Had dinner around the corner last July with my brother. The artist in St-Sulpice is one of my favourites. But his name escapes me right now. Darn. On the tip of my tongue.
Nice blog. I’ll be back. Au revoir
Brian

Thank you Brian π It’s good to meet another street art fan!

Likewise.

such an interesting and diverse collection of art π
Sarah Wilkie
Thank you – it seems to be getting easier and easier to find interesting street art in some cities π
Teresa
I love these, Sarah. I know this is one of your favourite places⦠and it is obvious. My faves are the bearded men haha ⦠so funny! I also love the black and white sort of pen and ink mural.
Here is my entry for this week https://mywanderings.travel.blog/2022/09/26/a-wall-mural-in-south-yarra/
Sarah Wilkie
Thank you Teresa π Yes, I thought the bearded men were funny. The group of three were very near our hotel and then later we spotted the single one near the canals. Thanks for joining in!

Hi
Thanks for hosting this week
—
And I just had to link a recent post because I interviewed someone (Brian) who had a lot of art!
Also, he says that he never tired of Paris either – so that was great to read at the stat of this post ….

Wonderful street art you found Sarah!
Sarah Wilkie
Thanks Aletta π

I’m easily confused but I did find my way here from Marsha’s to comment, Sarah. Those eyes were following me, but I have to admit I often go for pretty stuff and I love the flowers in her hair lady. Thanks for the link. I’ll try and find time to visit the others later. Have a good trip to….?
Sarah Wilkie
Thank you Jo π I’m puzzled why you were confused about finding this? You usually seem to make your way to my posts OK. I agree about that flower lady, she’s one of my favourites, along with the first two black and white ones (both segments of a huge long piece). We’re off to Sofia tomorrow for a few days – the trip we should have had in June but had to cancel when I caught Covid!
restlessjo
I like the chap in the alleyway too. (I started on Marsha’s PPAC post, couldn’t find a place to comment or the rest of the street art and came back to your blog before the penny dropped) Enjoy the trip!
Sarah Wilkie
Ah yes, I’ve seen Marsha’s post now and understand your confusion. I think she’s kindly disabled commenting there so that people would be encouraged to come here!

Oh, these are great finds, Sarahβ¦I like the man strolling down the narrow street seen off the 14th Arrondissement
Sarah Wilkie
Thank you Sue – two bits of street art for the price of one in that shot!
Sue
Indeed so!
thehungrytravellers.blog
I bet Iβm the only one that spots that you managed to sneak the name of a Newcastle player into this collectionβ¦
Sarah Wilkie
Haha yes – our latest acquisition, shaping up (hopefully) to be quite a star!
bushboy
Fabulous street art. I find the street art around here a tad boring compared to art works elsewhere
Sarah Wilkie
We’re fortunate to have loads in London but I still like to look for more when I travel. Thank you Brian π
Mike and Kellye Hefner
Trying to figure out what the sculpture is doing in Rue de Seine 36…
Sarah Wilkie
π Some sort of twisted acrobatic or modern dance pose I reckon!
Mike and Kellye Hefner
All while naked – LOL!
NortheastAllie
I love all of these magnificent murals, thank you for sharing this art work!
Sarah Wilkie
Thank you, glad you liked them!
salsaworldtraveler
You have a good eye for finding interesting street art. Great photos!
Sarah Wilkie
Thank you – it is something we do look for on our travels π
Marsha
I agree with Margaret, the 3D collection is a kick. Those eyes! I love the humor in some of these. The gas mask people. Looks like they are dancing or fashion posing. I do love artists that have a sense of humor even though gas masks were no laughing matter. The wild colored murals remind me so much of my former daughter-in-law’s paintings and she was raised in France. I can definitely see the influence on her artwork. Paris is such an artsy place. Fascinating post, Sarah.
Thanks again for hosting today. I will post a link to your post tomorrow morning. Portland art was a little disappointing yesterday, but I’m expecting more from it today. π The architecture is fun, though. Oregon is into flowers – roses, and now dahlias. We are going to the dahlia fields probably tomorrow and the Rose Garden today along with the Japanese Garden if we can fit everything in. π
Sarah Wilkie
Thank you Marsha, I’m glad you liked these pieces π And it’s been a pleasure to host – also the least I could do, as I so much fun with this challenge and really appreciate you hosting it! Glad you’re enjoying your trip, I’ll look forward to hearing and seeing more in future blog posts no doubt!
Marie
What a varied selection! Great challenge – I must go through my photos and join in soon….
Sarah Wilkie
Oh yes, do!
margaret21
That’s a very eclectic collection. I especially like the 3D offerings
Toonsarah
Fun aren’t they? They were on a couple of houses at the end of one of the little lanes – we were glad we’d ventured down to explore!
