Annapurna range at sunrise
Viewed from Sarangkot near Pokhara
We got up at 4.45 to go and watch the sunrise over the Himalayas. A stiff climb from the parking area and rather busy with other people mad enough to get up at that time, but so so worth it!

There is something so powerful in watching the sun rise over the rugged peaks of the mountains.
Sarah Wilkie
There is – although actually here it rises over the valley opposite the mountain range and what you see here is the light reflected back off the snow ๐

I just read on the news about an earthquake in Nepal … I’m not sure where you are at the moment, but hope you’re safe and sound ๐.
Sarah Wilkie
We’re fine thanks. We did feel the tremor during the night but it wasn’t enough where we are (Bardia National Park) to cause any problems thankfully. I hadn’t realised it would have made the UK news!

Itโs always worth the early start if you get a view like that! Thereโs also a strangely satisfying feeling about eating breakfast having already enjoyed the first big experience of the day.
Sarah Wilkie
That’s so true – and to be honest I don’t struggle too much getting up that early, fortunately!
restlessjo
One of those fill your heart with joy moments!

I was one of those mad people too and all I saw was fog! You did better than me. ๐

Oh no, how disappointing! We did check the weather forecast before planning to go, but it’s always a lottery.
