Cee's challenges,  Flowers,  Philippines

Gallery: flowers of the Philippines

Iris Murdoch

Visiting any country, I am drawn to anything different or unique, of course. And in the Philippines I found several sights Iโ€™d not previously seen elsewhere, from the endemic tarsiers of Bohol to the hanging coffins of Sagada. But Iโ€™m almost as happy photographing subjects that arenโ€™t necessarily unique, especially when there are flowers as glorious as those I saw there.

I find bougainvillea and hibiscus especially hard to resist. The hibiscus above was captured on our rainy day in Sagada. And I found bougainvillea in many places, including hotel gardens.

Iโ€™m sharing these as a memorial for Cee, a special member of our blogging community whom we sadly lost last month. She was an important influence on my own blogging journey, especially when I first started. Through her I discovered several of the challenges I still enjoy today, and through her I โ€˜metโ€™ many other bloggers who share my passions.

Although I joined in several of the challenges she hosted, her Flower of the Day wasnโ€™t one of them, as I tend not to do single photo posts nor want to do so every (or most) days. But I can think of no better way to thank her for what she gave to all of us than to share a whole cornucopia of flowers together today.

A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms.
