I can’t remember the last time it snowed properly here; certainly a few years ago. It’s not something I’ve ever welcomed. Living in a city my experience of snow has been largely negative. It messes with our transport system and makes getting anywhere a nightmare; it looks pretty only for a matter of hours and then turns to brown slush; and if the weather stays cold the slush then turns to slick ice patches which (as a person with zero sense of balance) I dread!
So when it snowed last Sunday my first thought was, ‘Thank goodness that I don’t have to go out in it.’ But oddly, my second thought was, ‘Let’s get out and take some photos!’ This pandemic (with its associated lockdowns) has made things we used to take for granted seem exciting, because they bring much-needed variety into our otherwise dull lives.
Thus, walking in the park in the snow became a little treat. And clearly we were not the only ones feeling this way. There seemed to be a little buzz in the air as children ran around enjoying the novelty, teenagers threw snowballs and even adults joined in with some serious snowman constructions.

In my local area I only prefer new snow mostly outside the window next to the fireplace. Especially wonderful picture is for Christmas. But sadly, usually they went quickly and left dirty ponds which are nice only for photo of reflection of the nearby objects. On the other hand, I just adore the great snow on mountains and I wish I had the opportunity to visit it often. Love your stories and your photos, Sarah. Thank you for your unique overview of the world.

I always try to get out right away to take photos of the new snow. We haven’t had much snow here the last two years, but we are supposed to get a lot of it tomorrow.
If it snowed, my mother wouldn’t set foot outside in her latter years. I’ve become a little more cautious too.

The only good snow is new snow, imho! And I’ve never really liked slippery surfaces, even as a child – I hated ice skating the only time I tried it!

Snow can get tiring that is for sure!! For now, I am enjoying the snow here in Colorado – thankful it brings moisture to our very dry environment!!
